Nevada Priorities

This ARPA grant funding is provided through requirements from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to assist Nevadans severely impacted by the pandemic. Due to this unprecedented funding opportunity and the interest in funding programs that directly assist those experiencing hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible that not all applications will be funded or that a selected idea will receive partial funding in order for the State to reach the greatest number of disproportionally impacted vulnerable Nevadans.

Through the American Rescue Plan Act, we are seeking non-profit partners will join our team on our mission to:

invest in schools

Invest in schools that prepare all children for success

The pandemic exposed existing inequities in Nevada’s public education system. Our recovery efforts must focus on reimagining education in Nevada, including how we bridge the digital divide, train and equip our educators for success, and rethink curricula to provide students with the knowledge and skills to adapt and succeed. The American Rescue Plan includes over $1 billion in direct relief for K-12 schools in Nevada.

solidify a healthy state

Solidify a healthy state for all Nevadans

The impacts of COVID-19 have been felt in every facet of our lives—how we work, educate, practice our faith, and support ourselves, our seniors, and our multi-generational families, all while dealing with financial instability, job loss, housing and food insecurity, social isolation, managing working from home and schooling children.

Provide good jobs for a diverse, vibrant and sustainable workforce

Prolonged periods of high unemployment and low labor force participation will have significant effects on Nevada’s labor market and on working people. Nevada’s recovery must focus on protecting small businesses, maintaining the jobs we have, developing new workforce opportunities and creating more good-paying jobs. Nevada’s economic recovery must be equitable and prioritize diversification.

affordable childcare

Support families with access to quality and affordable childcare

Childcare is a key contributor to Nevada’s successful economy, and COVID-19 has impacted previously available options for working families. Making quality childcare affordable and available is paramount to recovering from the pandemic and improving the lives of children and the adults who love them.

secure housing

Strengthen secure housing for all who call Nevada home

Housing is an essential, basic need that is not only vital to safety as well as a facet of health, it is also critical to the recovery of the economy, education, healthcare, and so much more. By reviewing and leveraging American Rescue Plan funding, Nevada can help fulfill the vision of affordable housing and build with a future-focus for generations to come.
