Helping Hands of Vegas Valley Inc.
Project Overview
The number of older adults in the United States is projected to increase. By 2030, adults age 65 and over will constitute approximately 1/5 of the population. This growth in the number and proportion of older adults combined with their changing demographic is expected to have profound impacts on the demand for social services.
In February 2019, a study was done to determine the services needed/desired by the Baby Boomers. The study concluded that senior centers are not meeting their expectations and/or needs. If changes are not made to attract baby boomers to congregate meal services, many may shut down. We are looking for restaurant locations to lease or purchase. If older adults can attend a congregate meal in a restaurant, then they might be willing to access the free meal that they need. The congregate meal location will be open Monday – Friday from 11:30am – 1:00pm for adults 60 and older.
HHOVV will provide program administration, Elior will run the kitchen, and NSS will provide additional resources and referrals for clients attending the meal.
