Child Assault Prevention of Washoe County
Project Overview
The workshop teaches children how to recognize and get help for abusive situations they may encounter with bullies, strangers, internet predators, social media, and issues with safe/unsafe/ secret touching as well as situations with known trusted people that might try to abuse them physically or sexually. Additionally, the environment the workshop creates provides an opportunity for participants to come forward to their counselor or teachers to get help for their current situation.
The program has been successfully implemented in Washoe County, Storey County and several schools in Lyon County and Churchill County. These funds will allow them to expand into Elko and Mineral County and further schools within their current catchment areas. This will see an increase in 20,000 unduplicated students being reached.
